Krakatoa is a massive volcanic island situate between the two main Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra. In 1883, the island exploded, causing a huge tsunami, and had lasting repurcusions on the world for years.

-Lava is 2012ºF, or 1100ºC.
-Volcanic dust 1/400 inch in diameter, is carried around the globe as a bright red colour.
-Volcanic ash is 1/5 inch in diameter.
-Volcanic bombs can be as small as a baseball or as large as a basketball.
-Volcanic gases are mostly steam, but contain carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and sulfur dioxide.
